ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m William Walker. I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, a place that taught me early how powerful and fragile our environments can be. That landscape sparked my curiosity about ecology, unique ecosystems, and the ways sustainability connects people, communities, and the systems we rely on. In high school, I took AP Environmental Science through a partnership with Arizona State University’s School of Sustainability, and that experience set the direction for everything that followed.
I went on to earn my B.S. in Sustainability at ASU, with a minor in French Language and Cultural Studies. The program gave me a systems‑level understanding of climate and infrastructure, and it also taught me how to translate that knowledge into action. During my time there, I supported communications, heat‑island research, responsible supply chains, fair‑trade initiatives, long‑term ecological research in the Sonoran Desert, and sustainability certifications across business, nonprofit, and multilateral settings. Those experiences showed me how climate work becomes real when it’s rooted in people and place.
I knew I wanted to deepen my understanding of global climate solutions, so I pursued graduate studies at the University of Oxford, joining the second cohort of the MSc in Sustainability, Enterprise and the Environment. There, I learned how law, finance, and economics shape the path to net zero. My research focused on blended finance and nature‑based solutions in Singapore, which strengthened my interest in how capital can support ecological resilience.
After Oxford, I returned to the U.S. to begin my consulting career. I supported technology, software, and telecom companies with low‑carbon transition planning, climate‑risk analysis, GHG accounting, supplier engagement, and sustainability reporting. I worked with EU taxonomies, transition‑plan frameworks, and nature‑based approaches, helping organizations understand both the technical and human sides of climate action.
Now, I’m focused on building a career that blends sustainability expertise with community impact, storytelling, and organizational leadership. I care about work that brings people together, strengthens local ecosystems, and helps organizations move from intention to measurable change. My goal is to keep growing in roles where I can support climate strategy, community partnerships, and the kind of work that makes sustainability feel accessible and meaningful.
